PLASTINDIA 2026 scheduled to take place in New Delhi from February 5 to 10.
In 2024, India was the world's fifth largest importer of plastic and rubber machinery, with a value of 2.24 billion euros, just behind Germany.
In the decade 2015 to -2024, the compound annual growth rate of Indian imports of technology was by far the highest (+6.9%) among the top twenty purchasing countries.
The size of the market and the Government's investment plans aimed at promoting the develop-ment of local manufacturing mean that the country represents a commercial outlet with great po-tential for Italian manufacturers of machinery, equipment, and molds for plastics and rubber. There are around 30,000 processing companies and polymer consumption, currently around 25 million tons per year, could reach 160 million tons by 2060, doubling the current share on global demand.
According to calculations by the Amaplast Study Center – a trade association affiliated with CON-FINDUSTRIA that brings together over 170 manufacturers – based on foreign trade data pub-lished by ISTAT, in the period 2015 to 2024, the average growth in Italian exports of machinery, equipment, and molds for plastics and rubber to India was +8.6%.
In 2024, the value of Made in Italy supplies to Indian processors reached an all-time record of 110 million euros, and this threshold has already been exceeded in the first nine months of 2025 alone, with a significant share of high value-added systems.
Furthermore, on January 16, 2026, the Indian Ministry of Heavy Industries announced the with-drawal of the regulatory framework on the safety of machinery and electrical equipment (Omni-bus Technical Regulation) introduced at the end of August 2025. The measure is immediately ap-plicable, meaning that companies no longer need to obtain BIS certification to export machinery to India. This decision will undoubtedly simplify access to the Indian market, as it will be sufficient to provide the EU declaration of conformity.
In this positive context, 35 Italian companies are participating in PLASTINDIA 2026, many of which are grouped together in the pavilion coordinated by Messe Duesseldorf, the exclusive Euro-pean agent for the Indian exhibition. Numerous other companies from our country will be hosted at the stands of their local agents or partners.
Amaplast will be present with an institutional stand shared with the Italian Trade Agency (n. H4GN-G01) and there will be several joint promotional initiatives to support the companies present at Plastindia.
In particular, in addition to communication activities in the local specialized media, an event called “Italian Technology Day” is scheduled for February 6, from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm, in one of the conference rooms of the Bharat Mandapam exhibition center. The program includes a series of presentations by Italian companies, which will present their activities, product ranges, and, above all, their most innovative technological solutions to Indian and international operators participating in the New Delhi exhibition, with particular reference to case histories relating to the Indian market. This will be followed by a networking event.
