RR Kabel, one of India’s leading wire & cable manufacturers, uses SIKORA’s X-RAY 8700 NXT to ensure accurate, real-time measurement and control in its SIOPLAS lines. With more than 2,000 systems sold worldwide, SIKORA’s X-RAY 8000 series has set the standard for continuous and reliable quality control in power cable production. The systems deliver precise and reliable measurements of concentricity, wall thickness, diameter and ovality as well as by controlling cables with up to three layers.
Power cable manufacturers, including RR Kabel, install X-RAY devices from SIKORA for quality control in SIOPLAS as well as in CCV lines. In addition, producers of power cables benefit from the final quality control as it ensures the highest quality of the cables delivered to their customers.
The X-RAY 8700 NXT is installed at the hot position of the SIOPLAS line and immediately provides information for fast centering of the crosshead and automatic control of the wall thickness. The system precisely measures the wall thickness, diameter and eccentricity at the beginning of the production line, which ensures that only cables of the highest quality are delivered.
The X-RAY 8700 NXT supports a wide application range, including cables with solid and stranded as well as Milliken conductors with single, double or triple layer insulation. It is also suitable for quality control of insulation material based on polypropylene, including High Performance Thermoplastic Elastomer (HPTE).
