Hosokawa Alpine have further automized their highly efficient bubble cooling system for blown film extrusion. A motorized cooling ring insert significantly increases the degree of automation of Alpine blown film lines, making them ever more user-friendly.
Fully integrated in ExVis system control
The new cooling ring insert, which was presented for the first time at the K 2025 in Düsseldorf, has been equipped with four additional servomotors to cover all necessary adjustments. "The ideal cooling ring settings can be reached using intelligent controllers," explains Bernd Bayer, Director R&D Blown Film Extrusion at Hosokawa Alpine. "The optimum operating points can then be saved in the film recipe." The fully integrated operation of the cooling ring insert is via the user interface of Hosokawa’s ExVis system control. This allows the main cooling air gap, the height and position of the maximiser, and the counter-air flow to be optimally adjusted.

Focus on user-friendliness
With the motorized cooling ring insert, Hosokawa Alpine is taking another significant step towards system automation. The cooling ring insert is 100 per cent automatically adjustable: any individual setting can be made directly via an actuator. "This is not only a great help for the operator, but also fulfils our aim of making our systems as user-friendly as possible," summarises Bayer. The cooling ring insert can be retrofitted into all Alpine cooling systems.
