Primo to build a technology centre in Denmark

Primo to build a technology centre in Denmark

News 27.05.2022

A dedicated technology centre is under construction, which will bring together testing and development for Primo's departments in eight countries. The centre is located in Tistrup, Denmark.

"Production of plastic profiles continues to become more and more specialized. Primo produces special profiles for everything from the building and automotive industry, the medico sector, and the offshore industry. To continue to deliver world-class innovation and technology to all our business areas, we are pooling our expertise from all our factories in Europe and Asia in a new Technology & Innovation Centre," says Primo's CEO, Claus Tønnesen.

The Technology & Innovation Center will have its production lines dedicated to development and testing, which has traditionally taken place on production lines in operation. Primo will thus have a more flexible development environment, which will to a greater extent, be able to support production and customers' needs for innovation.

"This initiative is, to a large extent, also a signal to the market and our customers that we want to be at the forefront when it comes to the development of new innovative materials and products. With the new setup, we dedicate our best specialists to developing exclusively. Our goal with the centre is to focus on process and production optimisation and contribute to the green transition with our customers. With our new centre we move from a reactive to a proactive approach in extrusion and materials science," says Claus Tønnesen.

The centre will perform three main functions:

  • Production Technology - Development of smarter production and standardization methods, including increased digitalization, automation, documentation and machine learning that can support Time to Market
  • Tools - Design as well as fast and precise development and production of the elements that form plastic profiles
  • Materials - Development and research in plastic materials

The Technology & Innovation Center will be inaugurated and used later in 2022.
