Extrusion International 4-2026

24 Extrusion International 4/2026 INDUSTRY NEWS A clamshell barrel opens at the touch of a button to provide direct access to process areas for cleaning, screw changes, and inspection without the need for teardown. For demanding materials and frequent product switches, the detachable liner inserts can be released by loosening a few bolts, allowing quick changes of liner materials or hardness for abrasive, corrosive, or sensitive recipes while minimizing cross-contamination between runs. TwinLab B-TSE-S 30/40’s unique integrated engineering interface enables software-based I/O con guration for digital and analog signals. This allows users to add or re- map sensors, actuators, feeders, and downstream devices without hardware rebuilds, enabling effortless adaptation to changing application requirements. The industry-leading MetaBridge software provides pro- cess visibility and control, recording and visualizing key parameters such as torque, temperature, pressure, screw speed, and throughput to support trial comparison, stan- dardized reporting, and data export. Designed for ef cient development, reliable small-batch production, and smooth transfer to larger-scale operations, TwinLab B-TSE-S 30/40 combines a compact footprint, easy process access, exible con guration, and comprehensive data capture to support ef cient and consistent extrusion workows. Anton Paar www.anton-paar.com Eliminating Downtime and Boosting Film Quality with Continuous Melt Filtration Nordson Corporation, through its Polymer Processing Systems (PPS) division, announced that Huhtamaki’s Elif division, a global leader in sustainable exible packaging solutions, has successfully implemented Nordson’s BKG® continuous melt ltration technology to improve blown- lm production performance while increasing the use of recycled materials. As part of its sustainability strategy, Elif set out to in- crease recycled content in its polypropylene (PP) and poly- ethylene (PE) blown- lm applications. However, the vari - ability typically associated with recycled feedstock created signi cant processing challenges on its extrusion line op - erating at 350 kg/h. The company experienced frequent production interruptions, elevated waste levels, and visible lm defects due to inconsistent melt ltration. To address these challenges, Elif partnered with Nordson Polymer Processing Systems to evaluate a continuous melt ltration solution designed for demanding blown- lm ap - plications. Addressing Downtime and Product Quality Challenges Elif’s existing discontinuous ltration system proved in - suf cient to handle uctuations in melt purity inherent in recycled materials. As a result, the operation faced: • Frequent downtime caused by ltration interruptions • Increased gel content leading to product quality issues • Reduced operational ef ciency and higher material waste • Limited exibility in processing varying recyclate qualities These challenges impacted productivity, commercial out- put, and the company’s sustainability objectives. Nordson BKG® Continuous Melt Filtration Solution Nordson provided a BKG® HiCon™ K-SWE-HD/RS con- tinuous melt lter for on-line testing. Installed downstream of a 90 mm extruder and operating at inlet pressures of up to 550 bar, the system delivers ltration neness between 125 and 150 µm.
