In addition, the test lab permits single and co-extrusion capabilities with its tried-and-true die designs. Access to exotic extrusion processes such as rotary die extrusion of lament and tubular end-products are also available. The addition of the tensile testing rig allows for mechani- cal testing of nished product samples in-house for even faster trial results. Supporting extrusion trials, the test lab also offers extrusion training, die cleaning services, sample inspection, and end-product testing. Nanolayer technology is an ad- vanced technology in stretch lm pro - duction to improve lm quality and wrapping application. Nano-layered lm gives stretch lm incredible per - formance despite its thickness. While Nano67 is already an established tech- nology for high-end applications on the market, SML now pushes this tech- nology further. In close collaboration with Cloeren and drawing on the vast experience and learnings of Nano67, we devel- oped a truly unique piece of equip- ment. The new nanolayer feedblock was custom-engineered to meet high- est requirements. This design differs from every previous solution in three key ways: • 101 layers – the highest number count ever achieved in stretch lm • Highest percentage of nano-struc- tured lm in the total lm • Highest number of extruders – the nanolayer feedblock is fed by eight extruders Overall, these features offer higher exibility to inuence lm properties. “Nano101 lets us combine a wider range of functional materials, in differ- ent sequences and at lower percent- ages. While the stretch lms produced on our machinery already exceed the market requirements for elongation, Nano101 focuses on inuencing tear propagation, holding force and punc- ture resistance,” explains Thomas Rauscher, Product Manager at SML.
