The official launch of operations at the Highsun AKRO plant in Fuzhou |
On June 23, 2026, the inauguration ceremony for the Highsun AKRO Fuzhou Factory was held in Changle, Fuzhou, marking the official launch of operations. Attendees included Chen Jianlong, Chairman of HSCC; Chen Zhong, President of HSCC; Roelof Westerbeek, Vice President; Dr. Oliver Neuß, Managing Director of AKRO-PLASTIC GmbH; and Yang Xuebin, General Manager of Highsun AKRO, along with project management and representative staff, who gathered to witness this milestone.
Located in Changle District, Fuzhou, the new facility represents an annual production capacity of 100,000 metric tons of modified engineering materials. The plant fully integrates AKRO-PLASTIC's proven ICX® Technology (innovative compounding and extrusion technology), along with its engineering plastics formulation systems. Primary products include the AKROMID® series of PA 6, PA 6.6, and PPA materials, as well as AKROLOY® series PA 6.6/PPA alloys covering a broad spectrum of premium engineering plastics categories.
At the opening ceremony, General Manager Yang Xuebin stated: "Changle has a deep industrial foundation and an excellent business environment. Going forward, the Fuzhou factory will focus on three strategic directions: first, innovation-driven growth – leveraging the combined technical expertise of both partners to establish a local R&D laboratory that will empower diverse industries such as automotive, electronics, and kitchen & bath; second, green and low-carbon operations – fully adopting energy-efficient production equipment and pursuing sustainable manufacturing practices; and third, collaborative synergy – deeply integrating into the Highsun Group industrial ecosystem while attracting local talent to contribute to Fuzhou's high-quality economic development."
Dr. Oliver Neuß added in his remarks: "this is the best compounding plant I have ever seen in more than 25 years of activity in the compounding industry. And this plant combines the best of two worlds. Against all odds we have remained dedicated to our project and brought it to completion. Changzhou in future will be the site for highly specialized compounds and Fuzhou will develop toward large volume runs and cost leadership. This differentiated, complementary setup will enable us to provide customers with the full spectrum of highest-quality engineering materials."
Roelof Westerbeek, Vice President of HSCC, stated: "This plant represents the highest-level benchmark project I have participated in throughout my career. The completion of the Fuzhou plant marks another milestone on our journey of HSCC and AKRO to become a leading provider of Engineering Materials solutions for the China market. It is also a key element in HSCC’s 3.0 vision to grow in specialties, including Engineering Materials. Highsun AKRO Fuzhou Plant fully integrates the advantages of both shareholders, equipped with world-class facility, the latest proprietary technology, and a high level of automation to set the conditions to be very cost and technologically competitive.
