Gabriel-Chemie Group is Expanding its Portfolio

Articles

The Gabriel-Chemie Group is expanding its portfolio with innovative PFAS- and silicone-free Polymer Processing Aid (PPA) masterbatches based on hydrocarbon technology.

The new solutions were specifically developed to optimize processing properties in extrusion while simultaneously meeting current and future regulatory requirements.
Polymer Processing Aids (PPAs) are used in a wide range of extrusion applications such as blown films, cast films and pipes to improve process stability, reduce die build-up and enhance the quality of end products. In light of the growing discussion surrounding the harmful health effects of PFAS and the implementation of the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), PFAS-free alternatives are becoming increasingly important.

Among other measures, the PPWR introduces a complete ban on PFAS in food packaging applications from August 2026 onwards, thereby accelerating the development of future-proof material solutions.

The new PFAS- and silicone-free PPA masterbatches from Gabriel-Chemie are based on hydrocarbon technologies and offer a high-performance alternative to conventional PFAS-based PPA systems. In large-scale industrial production trials, the solutions demonstrated comparable performance in terms of process stability and product quality. The products particularly stand out through the reduction of die build-up and machine pressure, improved process stability, as well as excellent optical properties such as high transparency, smooth surfaces and uniform film thickness in blown film applications.

With its expanded portfolio, Gabriel-Chemie offers future-oriented solutions based on polyethylene and polypropylene carriers, supporting customers in ensuring high process reliability and consistent product quality while preparing in time for upcoming regulatory developments.
