Dornier: Increased film output by tailor-made process equipment

Dornier: Increased film output by tailor-made process equipment

News 18.04.2018

At the DORNIER booth, newest developments and individual machine concepts for efficient and future-oriented plant systems are in the focus. According to the motto "Quality creates value", DORNIER supplies individual machine components and complete lines for the production of mono- and biaxially oriented films exclusively "Made in Germany". Since the beginning of this year, the worldwide widest polypropylene film production line produces 600 m of film per minute. With its 10.5 m width, the line supplied by Lindauer DORNIER GmbH beats again the own record width to date.

Optical film and hot stretching

Optical film is in the focus at Chinaplas as well. This kind of polyester film ensures f.i. the brilliance of the displays and the flat product structure in OLED and LED screens. So far, particularly specialized companies in Japan and Korea produced this kind of film. However, a break of the economic trend becomes apparent: "With DORNIER transverse stretching machines optical film was produced all the while, but for some time the material is increasingly produced on complete film stretching lines in China", says Andreas Kückelmann, the Managing Director Business Unit Specialty Machines at DORNIER. As per industry insiders, this is mainly because DORNIER film production lines with a thickness range of 20 to 350 micrometre meet highest quality requirements for optical film.

Also "hot stretching" will be an issue at the Chinaplas. The process step being optionally integrated into DORNIER BOPET (biaxially oriented polyester film) film stretching lines, enables not only a higher production speed, but makes the film almost isotropic, which is advantageous for numerous applications. "Our customers appreciate that we supply the production lines custom-made", says Andreas Kückelmann. This applies also to the service for the film stretching lines such as spare parts deliveries, conversions or latest digitization solutions.

Semi-finished textiles

DORNIER will also present its DORNIER Composite Systems® business division in Shanghai. The company continues to establish its reputation as a system partner for component, fibre and polymer manufacturers for all matters relating to machinery and systems for producing semi-finished textiles made from carbon, glass, aramid and basalt. Besides the P1 roving weaving machine renowned for manufacturing high-quality reinforcing fabrics since more than 40 years, 3D weaving machines, tape production lines and tape weaving machines rank among this business unit.

About the company
