33 Extrusion International 3/2022 Multiple Orders for New Automated Case Packer for Lid and Container Packaging Won  Muller Technology, a leading global supplier of molds and automa- tion solutions for thin-wall packaging, reports the highly successful adoption of its industry-leading six-axis case packer for high-volume production of lid and container packaging. The com- pany has enjoyed strong sales world- wide with a total of more than 10 ma- chines delivered since the launch of the new system earlier this year. The new automation system, which incorporates an industrial six-axis ro- bot, helps processors bridge a major labor shortage gap in the U.S. plastics processing industry while meeting the volume-driven demands of U.S. pro- cessors and delivering greater versa- tility, flexibility, and productivity. “In these challenging economic times, the six-axis case packer helps processors who struggle filling un - skilled labor positions,” said Taras Ko - nowal, Director of Sales andMarketing for North America. The jobs of packers are highly repetitive and unfulfilling, but highly needed, according to Ko- nowal. The new case packer enables molders to re-allocate their workforce to more productive, fulfilling jobs. The six-axis case packer delivers greater productivity than Muller’s recently launched collaborative ro- bot (cobot) case packer, according to Konowal. The unit is one of the com- pany‘s most productive systems for high-volume packaging lines. It offers higher cavitation for the manufacture of blow molded bottles and thermo- formed packaging. The unit offers highly efficient cycle times, handling up to 64 cavities every six sec for lids and 5-sec cycles for containers. The case packer can be purchased separately or integrated into an au- tomation line such as Muller’s new M- Line system, a new integrated robotic and automation system which deliv- ers significantly greater flexibility and versatility for production of injection molded packaging. The basic model of the six-axis case packer can operate as a standalone, placed at the end of an injection molding or thermoform- ing machine, or tied to an in-mold la- beling (IML) automation system. The new six-axis case packer offers portability, quick part changeover for different size configurations, and a favorable return on investment. It comes with external guarding and is equipped with all the latest safety fea- tures The product platform is manu- factured in Switzerland and Colorado. Muller Technology Colorado (formerly CBW Automation) www.muller-technology.com New Distribution Partner Named  Conventus Polymers, a leading distributor of high-performance en- gineering thermoplastics, has been named an authorized distributor of AGC Chemicals Americas’ fluo- ropolymer resins in the U.S., Can- ada, and Mexico. The agreement with the Exton, Pa.-based global producer covers Fluon ® ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) fluo - ropolymers and Fluon ® PFA resins which are copolymers of tetrafluo- roethylene and perfluorinated vinyl ether. The agreement will expand Con- ventus’ growing fluoropolymer portfolio and complement its over- all engineering plastics line with high-performance materials that are in demand for challenging, high-end markets and applications. Conventus will sell ETFE and PFA fluoropolymers for injection molding, extrusion, and compression molded applications. The fluoropolymer of - fering will enable Conventus to target the electrical industry, particularly the semiconductor market segment. The company will also look to grow ETFE organically and potentially replace polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) which continues to be in tight supply, accord- ing to John Jorgensen, President of Conventus Polymers. “We’re thrilled to partner with AGC Chemicals because we share similar values and a strong commitment to of- fering our customers the best specialty thermoplastic solutions available,” said Jorgensen. “The distribution ar- rangement meets our goal of collabo- rating with companies who invest in differentiation and technology to offer the most cutting-edge solutions in the marketplace.” Conventus offers a highly technical focus, unique expertise, and strong relationships with key OEMs. The company’s focused approach within key end-use markets and its ability to develop new applications will be criti- cal in expanding penetration of AGC Chemicals’ fluoropolymers through - out the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
