Extrusion International 5-2021

PREVIEW 58 Extrusion International 5/2021 The international chemical distributor Nordmann will present itself at the upcoming Fakuma together with its partners and co-exhibitors Marfran (formerly FFE), Völpker, PMC, UBE and Repol. Sustainable circular economy – this is one of the top topics of this year’s Fakuma. Recycling is an important topic that is being given higher priority in the plastic industry, driven by the so- cial discussion regarding climate protection. In the last few years, Nordmann has aligned its product portfolios more heavily with this. “For example, in Circular+ from our partner Kraton Polymers and the CEVO ® products from VOELPKER Spezialprodukte, we are offering the first additives specially developed for this application area. The specifications of the politicians and the ever- increasing interest of industry show that we are at the beginning of an extremely exciting and sustainable de- velopment,” comments Christian Schur, Business Man- ager Polymer Additives at Nordmann. “After the collapse due to the coronavirus, the plastic markets are recovering rapidly. A recovery that is char- acterised by high volatility and shortened planning ho- rizons. At the same time, a sustainability transforma- tion is taking place, as evident, for instance, in the use of recyclates or in the development of plastic products for the requirements of electromobility. Here, oppor- tunities and challenges are closely packed together,” explains Dietrich Albrecht, team leader at UBE Europe. Nordmann, Rassmann GmbH www.nordmann.global Nordmann B5-5214 In the field of compounding, Nordmann partner UBE offers solutions for thermal and charge management in electromobility in the common temperature ranges. UBE is also very well positioned in the market for high- pressure hydrogen tanks. The appearance at the trade fair in Friedrichshafen underlines the focus of joint actions. “The current raw material scarcity has shown how carefully we must handle resources and how important good communi- cation and joint actions are. Here, developed partner- ships with suppliers from Europe, North America and Asia have many advantages, especially in the current market environment,” explains Frederik Röhrs, Sales Director Plastics & Elastomers at Nordmann. Since 1 September 2021, Frederik Röhrs has been re- sponsible for a newly created industrial unit at Nord- mann, which includes the plastics and elastomers in- dustries. With this step, Nordmann is consolidating related materials and industries with a high automo- tive content and common customer structures. “We are pleased – provided the pandemic events allow it – to meet the representatives of the plastics indus- try on site at this year’s Fakuma and to discuss market developments and new, custom-fit solutions with dif- ferentiated products and services with our customers,” says Nico Vossers, Business Manager Thermoplastics at Nordmann. VOELPKER is also focusing on the intensive dialogue on site: “At the trade fair, we would like to present – in addition to many other products – our wax additives of the ‘Plastic Series’, for example, which due to their unique properties are used as multi-functional high- performance additives in the plastic industry, often also in recycling,” adds Dr Lutz Matthies, Head of Busi- ness Development at VOELPKER. “The future is sustainable”:
