"We thank all the esteemed guests who have joined Dr. Khaled Fahmy – Minister of Environment – and Mr. Essam Bedewy - Menya Governor - to follow up on the progress of establishing a new recycling facility in EDWA city of Minya Governorate - Egypt. The facility which is engineered and built by AMUT ECOTECH is considered as one of the most advanced municipal wastes recycling facility in the country and is part of the fruitful and ongoing cooperation between the Italian Egyptian Debt for Development Swap Program, the Ministry of Environment, and the United Nations Development Programmer (UNDP) with the scope of upgrading and improving solid waste management in Minya Governorate" said Mr. Tarek Younes, the UNDP Project Manager during an official visit to the plant that took place on the 6th of April 2017. Potential investors were officially invited to the visit as part of the project plan to tender the facility's future operation.

AMUT ECOTECH, Recycling Division of AMUT GROUP, has supplied for Minya Governorate a municipal solid waste recycling facility for the best management of recyclable materials. The plant is planned to go into operation by June 2017.

AMUT ECOTECH was awarded the public tender issued by UNDP Solid Waste Management in Minya Project in 2016. The project is financed by the Italian Egyptian Debt for Development Swap Program based on a commercial agreement between the Italian and Egyptian Republics. The plant represents a pilot scheme that will be then replicated in other rural governorate aiming at upgrading the overall management of the municipal wastes across the country.

The plant has been designed with the following outcomes: reducing quantities and volumes of waste to send to landfill, maximizing quantity and quality of recyclable materials, getting best quality of final RDF product in terms of calorific value and achieving a great ratio between plant production and investment costs.

The facility is designed to segregate 300 ton/day of municipal wastes based on their type. The dry wastes will be processed for extracting recyclable materials ready for sale and RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel) useful for use as source of fuel in cement factories whilst the organic waste will be biologically treated to produce compost intended to safe agricultural applications.
