New coatings by Eastman at the FOCUS coatings conference

News 10.05.2017

An innovative coatings technology by Eastman Chemical Company offers boosted sustainability and performance. Tetrashield™ protective resin systems display highly improved weathering and hardness/flexibility balance compared to conventional polymers used for automotive and industrial coatings.

The visitors of the FOCUS (Future of Coatings Under Study) conference, held in Troy, Michigan (USA) on May 4th 2017, benefitted from the insights into the new technology. An advanced researcher in coating application development at Eastman, Dr. Linqian Feng gave details on how Tetrashield improves appearance, weather and scratch resistance of car coatings.

Another advantage of Tetrashield is that it makes it possible for OEMs to reach a 10...15% VOC reduction, resulting in an equal potential throughput increase. Being an innovative product, Tetrashield still originates from the rich expertise of Eastman in polymer design. Tetrashield has been recently added to the wide corporate product portfolio for various end markets such as industrial or transportation.

Eastman commits itself to excellent customer relationships, developing state-of-the-art coating ingredients for solving complex industry challenges. The company boasts market-driven approach, outstanding technology platforms and top positions in various attractive markets from construction to consumables. Eastman is present in over a hundred countries, reaching annual revenues of some $9 billion. Headquartered in Kingsport, Tennessee (USA), Eastman employs about 14 thousand people globally.
